“The Apocalypse” is my three disc debut album contributing to the idea of “what if?” I have always been intrigued about what would bring this would to the utter ends of man or destroy us almost completely, only leaving a handful of humans to either finish destroying each other or find a way to unit and rebuild civilization. I have wondered what it would be like to be one of the survivors and walk the earth in refuge or hunt, trying to sustain life and defend my honor. Would good defeat evil or would it be that men of honor would perish leaving only the cruel imagination of certain men to dictate the future of the earth? I love watching movies that contribute to this idea; they really get me into my deepest imagination and open up an entire different realm of creativity for me. Therefore I decided I would develop an entire album of mixes towards this theme.
The first of three discs titled “The Decent” is Indie EDM mix, almost like a collection of what sounds like a new age, retro pop mix. The mix includes tracks from Felix Da Housecat and Underworld. The songs chosen represent the way society is during its fall and “Decent” into the apocalypse. The lyrics in most songs can contribute to ideas of why human behavior may be too preoccupied on other things and how this may be one of the leading contributors to why something could happen. In a world where we should be spreading a message of peace and honor, we are wrapped up into our own agendas and selfish needs, leaving us vulnerable to something or someone with a different agenda.
The second mix is called “The Road”. This is a story to represent what is happening during the journey of survival. “The Road” is an Electro House mix with tracks from Deadmau5, Wolfgang Gartner and Digital Freq. The genre and tracks were chosen as sort a symbolism to the confusion and chaos that would preside here. With the extreme leads and a choppy style that Electro House has to offer it would seem to be the correct style to choose for disc two.
Disc three is the return and rise to civilization. As in all stories, we need a happy ending to give us hope. Therefore in “The Rebirth” I have chosen to conclude this story with a more uplifting and progressive approach mixing this disc with tracks from Afrojack and Swedish House Mafia. This Progressive House mix is to help achieve a good feeling, a feeling full of hope, life and love. With these feelings moving from body to soul, the conclusion to the album should leave you feeling like you can overcome whatever maybe challenging you at the moment.
We all could be suffering from an internal apocalypse at any moment. We get so consumed with our daily lives and forget the simple things that help us overcome diversity, and these simple things can help give us the courage to change our lives or help change the lives of others. It’s a hard road our there but it doesn’t have to bring us to our bitter ends and defeat, we just need small moments of clarification where we can see our lives and our purpose a little clearer. My hope is that you listen to all three discs all the way through at some point and by the end you have found something inside yourself that you will no longer let consume you. Conquer your own inner apocalypse.
